The Aussie gold space would be a hobbie. (probably less than 5% than total investment) You are a silly bugger if you think the Chinese are concentrating on taking over our gold companies. 

The North Americans were the only true investors. However there is a lot more territory than AUS to buy. Yes more political/employment risk. They may turn back to here. However our mid to large cap producers and even pop up juniors are trading at a premium right now. Would you make a take over of any of these right now? The only positive to this would be the falling $AUD. Otherwise takeovers can be quite punishing for the majors and international investors.
