Both Daniel. I’m a senior Registered Nurse working in a different clinical area with NSW Health & employed as a research/clinical RN. I’ve done my time on the wards (~18 years) & know my stuff with diabetes. But as I’ve said, a lot is changing in this space. There are new insulins, insulin pumps for type 1 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes: new insulins also on top of oral hypoglycaemic meds for those who need it. SGLT2 class as well, on new recommendations. I don’t work in that Specialist clinical area, but do all the flagged online education and read Global research, we don’t live in a bubble.
I was a qualified Veterinary Nurse prior to that. These medical conditions are an issue for animals as well (CKD/DKD/CVD). I’m not sure that people would be aware of that unless they have had a pet having health issues. They are just a susceptible too, you just watch for signs.
