They did not expect a downturn immediately after they started producing ,it is obvious the information they borrowed money on was incorrect.
Most others mothballed their projects because the demand was not there, this time it may be real, the genuine countries who want lower emissions have given the car manufacturers the confidence and backing to go ahead.
Sadly Australia because of a few self-righteous fossil fuel promoters because of self interest won't be joining the rest of the planet any time soon.
