Welcome to PIQ board. You are right in what you are saying in regards to a new pandemic in regards to DKD & CKD. Long COVID is a big issue, & if you are interested take a read of the increased risk of severe Covid in diabetic patients (identified biomarkers & genetic markers in some patients that may or may not have diabetes, it’s all very interesting) & new kidney disease post Covid-19 infection, even in non-hospitalised patients.

To top that off, diabetes diagnosis & DKD/CKD diagnosis and monitoring has been severely impacted due to lockdowns in the Northern Hemisphere.

Newly diagnosed Type 2 DM hospital admissions are on the rise in kids & adolescents in the USA during lockdowns, possibly in part due to more sedentary lifestyle & diet.

So I think you are right, COVID-19 IS & will have further impact globally for people suffering from T2DM & DKD. We still don’t know how bad this trajectory will be yet, but quite a lot of research coming out in an already endemic chronic disease globally.

This may not be very exciting to the Bitcoin Capitalists, but if we can improve the health & lives of millions of people who may be prevented from having to have dialysis or kidney transplantation now that multiple treatments are approved & recommended in official guidelines for Physicians, all the better. Ethical Investing.

I find it quite ironic that people in front of screens all day & night trading, may be more at risk of T2 DM, just like the kids who sit on X-Box all day during lockdowns.
