I remember back in 2013 when I was at Omaha tuning into Buffett/Munger they were contemplating AAPL, the first tech play - I was also there to kick the tyres of TSLA, during breakout events attendees ridiculed the suggestion, they couldn’t really grasp:
1) that the company was worth a serious look based on the fundamentals (despite the technical roadmap being sound)
2) model S was a flagship prototype that could herald a new era (or even a test drive which was a priority of my trip)
I believe we’re at the same stage at TSLA, few understand, few take seriously - pre-split they were $4 then, now $700+. As a LT holder, I personally feel any previous ceiling/target prices mentioned by who/when should be parked as it can prove painful given the LT potential.
The table below encapsulates why they feel they’ll be a zero to one moonshot, leapfrogging the current industry technologies, just like TSLA a few years ago.
