Pumps and dumps are not the company being profitable just a trade. Also one of the biggest pump and dumps on CGB/QBL was on the back of a retracted announcement ie an announcement made by the company that wasn't jorc compliant.
Also the numbers of ppl profiting off these trades is small they are barely able to sustain a price increase for a couple of days. If management delivered and aligned their interests with shareholders everyone would profit not just a handful of traders and those on the payroll.
