It's obvious you don't know what distortion is in the context of Old Joe's comments.
Probably time to do some research as he's not referring to non-linear distortion - or the type of distortion you get from the volume being turned up too loud.
Distortion is an essential characteristic of speakers (and amps and other audio bits). And not all of it is bad - but having inaudible distortion is pretty unheard of. I'm sure Uncle Joe will be happy to change his phone, but definitely not for the reason you are suggesting.
