I disagree, salary is the retainer that you need to pay people to ensure they turn up to work each day. Whilst this may be higher or lower depending on success and achievements etc, you will not retain people paying them bugger all.
Agree with you that performance rights should obviously be based on performance, which should then be linked to creation of shareholder value.
