Mate, I hear you, and all good.

But BLU has to throw a bone to the End-Of-Days Cult, for the same reason good folk (who plan to survive) have always had to - whether that's Witch Trials, the Bloody Inquisition, Stalin's genocides, the Nuremburg Laws, Mao's Cultural Revolution, the Mean Girls, whatever.

Survivors bend in the wind a bit - knowing that they know, that we know, that they know, that at the end of the day, the creeps need our gas to save their silly lying arses.

Anyway, BLU's statement is not actually untrue.

    Let's fact check:

Yes, Climate Change is a global phenomena, in multiple ways:

Yes, Climate Change is a global political phenomena. No brainer. Every bullying, free-money opportunist knows that.

Yes, true that Climate change also is, and always has been, a global natural phenomena.

Times past the world has been both much hotter and much cooler (down to becoming an ice ball), but it's always bounced back.

The age of the dinosaurs was one of the hotter periods. CO2 levels were multiples of what they are today, so as a consequence the world's flora and fauna were amazingly verdant and abundant, as evidenced by giant forests and lizards growing to the size of houses, etc.

All this tremendous high CO2 ecological abundance left us a legacy - a wealth of naturally recycled organic dinosaur juice and forests - aka petroleum and coal deposits - aka fossil fuels.

And these great forests took so much CO2 out of the atmosphere that they also left us reduced CO2 levels, more similar to todays.

Question is, could humanity survive such a return of such fertility and abundance?

Now, the big issue du jour, is current Climate Change is a global phenomena caused by human activity?

We can't claim there's zero impact, but proof of causality is at the stage of sketchy hypothesises. It's heavily reliant on assumptions, and the same type of speculative predictive modelling that "justified" global COVID lockdowns but has trouble reliably predicting whether it will rain tomorrow.

OK, so not much to build an end-of-days cult around, but that doesn't stop the Shamans flying around the world in their private jets, preaching to us sinful grovelling peasantry.

For Australia, as a continent, to become Carbon Zero, we actually have to boost our CO2 emissions by an extra 150%. Australia is currently a giant carbon sink.

Is Adam not talking about Australia, but all human activity within Australia, being reduced to Carbon Zero? Yet, isn't life itself carbon? These are questions the ABC like to fudge.

Meanwhile, as we all know so well, China and other NICs, not only continue to spew out vast amounts of CO2, but increase their CO2 output at many multiples of any footprint reductions we can squeeze out of our economies. So whatever sacrifices we make are moot - aka pissing in the wind.

But that hardly matters to Bandt because really, it's actually all about power and ego. Here's a ancient political scam: "YOU must do everything I tell you to do, unquestioningly, or else the world will end, and it will be YOUR fault".

I'm all for cherishing and protecting the natural environment, but I'm concerned that Carbon-phobia is one big sleazy distraction from the real challenges here.

Ecosystems are complex, interactive, responsive, productive and evolutionary (like free-market systems).

They are not at all like top-down, control-freak structures, that repress all independent thought and responsiveness, in favour of propaganda and the ham-fisted tyranny of a clueless but self-righteous bureaucracy.

So the Stalinist mindset is all wrong. Sorry Adam....

Put it another way, the planet's natural ecosystem is a trillion times smarter and more resourceful than our woke politicians, and it will survive them. But can we say that so confidently about Australian civilisation?
