There would also be consideration of wanting the TSF outflow dam near-empty at the beginning of the wet season. The large area of the TSF will collect a lot of rain, but the run-off will need to be contained, settled and possibly decontaminated before being released to the environment. Filling the tailings with process water drawn from the borefield will just make t harder to manage stormwater runoff later.
