Have to agree that Capn Kirk's address is a complete and highly irrelevant personal rant and I'm surprised that neither the auditors nor the CEO reigned him in. In terms of attempting to increase the appeal and liquidity of the company and shares to Australian investors this is a disaster.
Normally a Chair reflects on how the company has added value- to shareholders, the workforce, the environment etc, but given Kirk has only feathered his own nest, that rather restricts his scope, so he....
- opens his address by blasting social media - guess that's mostly us folks and implies this is the cause for delays and underperformance
- laments the impact of shorters - imagine he delivered, provided some returns or basic timely information where the shorters would be?
- alludes to international affairs being comparable to an '80's sitcom ? - but nothing about the horrific wars and civilian casualties in Ukraine or the Middle East
- rants about t a the prospect of a vacuous neo-Marxist inhabiting the White House - not even Trump calls her that anymore
- and comments on how fortuitous it has been that he has done nothing to monetise NE thus far and makes one more vague promise of something happening that will unlock value
and the closes off by choosing hope as the source of confidence that things will be better in a years time, rather than outlining some specific initiatives and targets to actually get us there and provide some confidence
Actually the best hope we have is if he ends up in the old folks home and we get a Board with some vision, ambition and drive to actually make things happen and get us there.
Little wonder his protege's main claim to fame for the year is that he has gone full commando....
