Rocketsnail, I think you may have misunderstood what that change in plastic waste source means. I have had long chats with the Indonesian management on this issue.
They are now buying recycled plastic flakes from groups like Waste for Change who are in turn buying mixed plastic from waste dumps, rivers and oceans. Waste for Change and others have sufficient scale and equipment to wash and process the 'dirty plastic' whereas RAN does not.
Also, the high cost of water and electricity in their bonded zone, where RaPal is located, means that the flake they are buying is actually cheaper than if they were processing the waste plastic themselves.
So in summary the story is the same, it's just that they are doing it smarter and cheaper which is contributing to the lower COGS. They can also scale up much more easily as the wash plant was a real bottleneck whereas, for the most part, the flake can get fed directly into the extruders.
