Cracking monazite into MREC as an intermediary step to full REO separation is standard tech been around for over 50 years, so no surprises it works fine on Goschen RE-con.
I'm not against mining, transport, processing or storage of radioactive materials. Frankly, the world is full of cancer causing radiation (including spending time in the sun), environment destruction (5M acres of amazon forest is swapped for farming monoculture each year), sterilising land through numerous forms of industrial development and contamination etc. Why society got so paranoid and precious about sterilising very small plots of land to safely store radioactive waste (albeit for a very long time) when the value to humanity of associated production is enormous is beyond logic imo. Especially Australia that mines NORM minerals, has no shortage of land to store radioactive waste and could have made the industry a major source of high-quality jobs and value-add...
Anyway, the world we live in has been brainwashed into deep fear of radiation despite rules that minimise risk to miniscule levels through an abundance of caution. The public and investors want to know if radiation is present, and investors want to know if it is, what financial or existential risk it poses to their investment. Fair enough, and so the ASX has rules requiring companies disclose if such deleterious or contaminating substances are present. Makes no difference, companies thumb their nose at reporting requirements and the ASX paper tiger all the time. Radioactive bi-product waste being the reason nobody outside China cracks very high Th-U beach monazite (unlike many hard rock monazite deposits like Mt Weld etc) for this reason (ILU Eneabba and Energy Fuel's plant in Utah plant will be the first western plants). Approvals are rare and controversial to say the least, yet VHM's report today on the processing of RE-connentrate into MREC product doesn't contain the words thorium or uranium once...
