I'm sure that the ADO Board would have recognised that one of the most significant weaknesses of their business is/was the reliance on third parties to take up their technology.
This acquisition is the (hopefully) perfect solution to that problem, putting the company far more in control of their own destiny.
It also achieves (at least) two other things:
- puts potential partners on notice that they need to come to an agreement in a more timely manner
- places ADO firmly in the sights of those looking for a suitable acquisition
