The real silver lining to industry type testing with a reader is the market that it opens up to the other tests in the pipeline. Something take home tests can't offer
'well we've gone and bought the reader, what else can we shove in it?' what else can they sell us?
hopefully ado has multiple answers to this question.
going back a decade , this company seemed to defy logic . We were trying to upset the testing apple cart , big players probably felt that the disruption to their processes wasn't worth the effort. The paradigm shift to faster testing may inevitably come out of necessity it seems.
