NATA accreditation is a big issue for POC. Hospital POC is still controlled by the Pathology Labs- and as I said they haven't even visited anyone in Brisbane or have any distribution deals set up.
GPs POC is also usually managed by the private pathology labs- none of the private labs in Brisbane have seen any activity either.
So where are they...…
Abbott, Roche, Alere (now merged with Abbott), BD etc are all trying to break the POC market- but accreditation, quality management and sensitivity issues are massive. Chemistry devices and blood monitoring devices are the few that have made it big in POC.
