We have debated the POC issue for a decade now- and do expect labs to made redundant in about 20yrs.(there are planned devices by Abbott for bedside diagnostics that could cover all pathology- by 2050 this will be a reality- labs will be left for obscure tests and not much else. AI will run the QC and management of these devices- I suspects Doctors will also become redundant!)
I would actually prefer a herd of dogs as diagnostic buddies- would be much nicer workplace.
For context blood gas machines are classed as POC devices- In my last Hospital/Lab job- we managed 85 of them.
So wonder whether 76 Axxin devices is actually impressive deployment or merely a few contracts and not much coverage.
