The new collaboration is not a discovery collaboration although it could presumably lead to a broad discovery alliance. There are two key possibilities which may help categorise the arrangement;
1. Cubist may simply be advancing the in-house work to proof-of-concept for out-licensing the antimicrobial phylomers,
or alternatively;
2. The initial POC may be setting the stage for a strategic collaboration based upon synergistic technologies.
Presumably, the lack of disclosure is not to frustrate shareholders but conceal commercial considerations of the transaction.
