The former CEO of NCM started July 2014 during the tough times. First focus was strategic review, a strong cash focus and paying down debt. Mining leases relinquished, Telfer put up for sale. U-turn down track and reinvestment in Telfer to prolong life.
Sandeep Biswas left NCM late last year and has not yet been replaced.
Interim Chief Executive is their CFO - so finance background. Now interest from Newmont and all options on the table. Newmont is still lurking.
That I suspect changes any focus to short term possibilities of maximising value to their shareholders. A former CFO would be focussing on a potential corporate deal and I suspect disinterested in spending money on speculative drilling for potential longer term rewards when that time frame is not in focus.
