Another possibility is that it may be an offer from the Canadian company, Barrick, that has just recently taken over Equinox. They were prepared to pay a good premium to what the Chinese were offering in order to form the basis of a copper division, and diversify away from gold. Maybe they are looking to Anvil to bulk up further.
