This banking sector is like the koala in the tree, must be protected at all costs - when there is some risk, down they are to Canberra seeking taxpayers monies, both sides of politics have protected them and their bonuses for enjoying an oligopoly. However when it is all going well for the banks (ie the bankers) not the customers or sh's, then it is hands off. Bankers define risk as some jeopardy to their inflated remuneration, is in the DNA, no skills for business development or systems enhancement eg ANZ & WBC particularly, 1980's type bankers before deregulation. This ANZ acquisition is just a diversion from loosing too much of their mortgage business.
