The rise in the statutory net profit does not reflect the financial performance. The company reported underlying net profit of $74m which was down 61% versus $191m in prior year.
The $1.05bn number you quote for statutory profit includes a non-cash accounting gain of $1.05bn due to accounting requirements the company has excluded from all of its underlying results presentation.
Excluding that $1.05bn non-cash accounting entry and the profit would have been $0..
