With the seven day Victorian lockdown commencing today (Friday 28 May 2021), home demand for natural gas heating in this southern state has increased, with 975 TJ being the current figure. (The all time record from memory is 1300 TJ, but that's unusual). The temperature was just under 12 degrees approaching 1700 AEST, but the forecast minimum for around 0700 hours on Saturday 29 is a chilly six degrees, so one would think this high demand won't cease in five minutes.
When I've occasionally looked at the AEMO website, on colder days or nights recently the demand has typically been in the range of 600 to 800 TJ.
APA's CEO has previously said that APA does best when its assets are being well used, but didn't really elaborate. There must be complexities about contracts.
