The bank is quite safe, I'd never have my money in gold, it's a bit like Bitcoin, except you get to take a useless gold bar home. It's only worth what the next sucker's going to pay for it, because it doesn't have a P/E.
You can calculate this vs gold if you like, I did it on the gold forum a while back....
