Ann: Appen to acquire leading location data provider Quadrant, page-36

Honestly, can someone explain to
me how buying quadrant is useful? Appen’s core product has always been about languages. Besides all those useless words like synergy and increase utilisation etc, i dont see how this aquisition makes sense except that appen appears to be buying a company that is semi decent in a growing field but is otherwise not really related to their core which means its going to be difficult to really build up the company. More like oh that other side of the ship is sinking lets buy a yacht and attach to it. Is this what this purchase is?
