Options are priced at 5 day average, if price is less than strike price they don’t sell, likely executed because of pending expiration of the options. Look back at same time last year to see similar pattern, either sold or expired unused. So use it is or lose it scenario. cashless means they don’t put out any money,fee are deducted from proceeds which are returned as shares at market price. Nothing tricky just business transaction.
