Biotechs: Moderna Leaps, BioNTech Slips

Moderna (MRNA) rocketed 9% higher after publishing study results showing "robust" immune-system response in a larger group of people injected with a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidate. The drug produced no serious side effects, the article said. The drug will move on to a more decisive trial phase later this month.

Moderna stock is rising off a test of support at its 10-week moving average, finishing Tuesday's session 16% below an 87.10 buy point in an eight-week cup base.

On the IBD 50 list, drugmaker Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY) rode the sector optimism, rising 1.7% in early action. The stock has been fighting to break back above resistance at its comverged 10- and 40-week moving averages. The stock is 11% below a cup base buy point at 65.44.
