Your quite right there mate , they used the wider blocks on their outdoor builds to the perimeter and use the thin blocks in the indoor builds . They either didn’t want to waste blocks as it’s the same process “stacking blocks” and much easier to demolish . Or they have decided to do all blocks thin first and do the outer walls with thick blocks to act as a cavity , still problem in this case, how to tie them in together ? Building codes change all the time to suite new innovation as long as the outcome is the same , just because you and I can’t see how they could overcome these problems doesn’t mean they haven’t , anyway we will all find out soon enough , JV with BWK’s who have spent millions on tests and which our codes have arrived from tells me they know a heck more than you an I put together , remember they are the experts and when in doubt who do you go to for advice ? Yes that’s right the manufacturer , do you think the manufacturer of these blocks would have an entire booklet on the preferred method on how these new blocks would be stored , fire rating, load ratings , glue use , temperatures tolerance, best preferred materials to use for final dressing, moisture rate intake , ect ect I know it’s hard to see past our conventional way of building but , be ready it’s about to change , so many questions need answering regarding codes it doing my F##* head in . As I said many times from day dot , suppliers will change their products and the way they are fitted to suite HX and not HX to suite their products .
