"Markets abhor vacuums and gaps will always be filled" as the saying goes. Of course nothing is 100% in the markets, I think there's a gap in the Dow Jones somewhere around 30, which will never be filled. But this guy did some historical analysis of the 30 Dow Jones stocks and he reckons 9 out of 10 times up gaps get filled. These are the most liquid stocks in the world so with less liquidity that gap fill percentage would likely drop.
