DMO is an obvious channel to get stuff funded locally and there is local high tech which could be accelerated.

As Defence is not subject to any of the normal trade rules action can be taken there quickly without the anti protectionist crowd crying foul.

Where they spend is another matter - EOS is an obvious candidate - and perhaps more money into the Collins class money pit? the new Bushmaster could get a guernsey ? The oft suggested trailer might ?

MST? Well maybe - it does fit the criteria but whether it will get past the roadblock within Defence? Lithgow would be an obvious place for manufacture as it has the small arms expertise and is a solid Labor electorate which will be hard hit by the carbon tax on coal.

Anyway this is all pure uninformed speculation on my part so take that for what it is DeMan. Just idle thoughts on what could be done for MST within Aust if the will and the money was there at Govt.
