Perhaps they were willing to forfeit the 20-30% in the knowledge that the funds are going direct to further the company and not to the pocket of a pip trader?
I recently did the same in a CR for another stock I own even though market value of the shares meant I could have picked up the same amount at circa 10% cheaper (with no options). And guess what, that 10% is negligible in the profits I have booked on that stock.
