I'm not sure if "resting" is the correct terminology.
Perhaps a better analogy could be in a comatosed state, with the family around the bedside, fidgeting with their rosary beads and in deep prayer, begging for solace from the KDR God.
Reality appears to be that IF a kdr deal is struck, at best, the patient will awake but remain bedridden.
If no deal is struck, they'd probably require a security guard manning the life support machine on 24/7 duty to stop the plug being pulled out.
IMO.
