It's no so stupid. When working in a remote location, taht is, extra time required to receive spares, you need to have a critical parts inventory. If you've ever worked in isolated Australia and had to shut down due to a motor burn-out or the like, with nothing to replace it, you'll know what I mean.
Any company that stops production due to break-dowwn, needs to have managment questioned.
Anyone who responds with what they see as the obvious, 'you can't have a spare for every damn part,' do not know what they are talking about and would never become a line manager in my company.
