I held SXG (Southern Cross Gold) until the bitter end - pure gold play, they finally hit production after almost 7 years. During that time the price of gold was doing just fine, in fact price of gold was almost double that of when it IPO'd (circa 2008), which is huge. Then went into administration within around 6 months.
So even the price of gold doubling was not enough to ensure success. It all depends on the quality of the tenements, and we're a loooong way from any concrete data on that front. Bit early to get excited.
