SBM has already been given a thumping for its poor deal. SBM may get more thumps on the back of a weakening gold price, and lack of progress at Simberi sulphides. It would not surprise me if Vassie is leaving because the BOD have given him a shove.
Unlike EVN, SBM has no extra debt (but also does not have much cash either), and there should be a significant improvement in operating margins and production at Gwalia from early next year. In addition the current Atlantic Gold operations are very profitable, but more capex and various approvals will be required if its ever going to get to its 200k ounce pa forecast.
I expect there will be a bounce in EVN next week. All the goldies have been retracing from their August/September highs, some rather badly.
