Crypto currencies are a truly baffling modern phenomenon. Part genius, part pyramid scheme (not entirely obvious until you understand mining Crypto and the barriers to enter mining) and possibly becoming more accepted as legitimate commodities even if mostly for tools to facilitate tax evasion or other crimes - which occur due to human nature NOT just because Crypto currencies allow it

Gold has existed on Earth before humans discovered it and decided to use it for jewellery, ornaments, coins, universal currency, industrial, medicinal and cultural purposes

Gold possess physical properties superior to many other metals & elements

Humans can exist with or without Gold and Gold exists regardless of human input or effort

Crypto currencies have only existed since 2008

They do not exist or function without networked computers

Bitcoin is purely a digital currency with little functionality beyond an anonymous & decenttalised ledger of transactions that requires and rewards anyone who participates in verifying transactions and mining new coins

Some alt coins offer features beyond physical currency replacement, however they are all bound by networks of computers

If you believe a networked system of computing, digital communication and the continued integration of artificial intelligence and robotics will exist as long as humans (or beyond!) then obviously Crypto currencies will likely be relevant - even if they offer no real functionality outside of networked computing.

They will have value and experience valuation fluctuations like any other currencies or commodities (where integration of functions beyond curremcy replacement exist)

Humans can exist without Crypto currencies or Gold

Crypto currencies did not exist prior to 2008 and can not continue to exist or offer any functionality or utility without networked computing

I guess it makes sense to consider if you want to...

Buy Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple

Buy some of each !!!

Take a step back and try to figure out how you measure your wealth and how you know the true value of anything like your time, your family AND your health.

For now we can all continue to exist regardless of our Bitcoin holdings or hesitations but this may change in the future....

I have owned Crypto previously but given it is now subject to regulations similar to any other form of investment I am not convinced that they offer anything of significant benefit and prefer to invest in physical assets and ASX shares

NST below $13 looks more appealing than Bitcoin at $25,000+ AUD !
