The major risk is not if bisantrene will inhibit FTO in humans (it will), but if inhibiting FTO doesn’t have the same effect in humans as it does in mice.

This is possible, but science has found that evolutionary high conserved systems tend to work exactly the same in both mice and humans (this is one reason we use mice to do experiments).The m6A RNA methylation system that FTO a part of, is about as ancient and conserved as any regulatory system in an cell.In my opinion there is a very high likelihood that inhibiting FTO will work exactly the same in humans as it does in mice.

Either way we are going to find out over the next few years.
