Why exercise at all? Because the oppies expire in a few months. Check expiry date. Tax year in USA is end of December. If he believes it will run after IMEC or toward end of the year then due to tax reasons don't want to exersice too high as he pays the difference.
Guido has done this before. Exercised and sold just enough to pay tax and conversion costs plus a little spending money. I dont see anything sinister.
Same time last year he held 3m shares. Now he holds 8m shares.
