No-one knows how far the Shorting algorithm is programmed to go, we can only wait for the announcement that says the shares have been returned, and the date of that, but we haven't seen it yet.
As everyone knows over the past 20 years, I hate Shorting, because it corrupts the market and obliterates the true (real) value of stocks.
In any fair and equitable financial system, it would be illegal, just as it was banned for a time during the 2008 financial crisis.
If Shorting does not corrupt the market, as the Mafia and Kleptocracy say, then why was it banned by over 50 countries during the 2008 financial crisis? The answer is very simple, and obvious !!!
Keep an eye out for the announcement that declares the return of borrowed stock, and compare it to the amount of stock that was originally borrowed by that borrower, and then compare that to the total shares currently Shorted, it will give you a couple of nice little ratios to contemplate.
