    Hi Possum,

Thanks for your posts & input . Sorry, a bit of a rush post last night, but you have highlighted in this announcement what we have been referring to in regards to analytical contracts with Linear (CRO) & their Biotech/Pharma clients, as well as @silsol.

Recently Australia has been through drought & devastating bushfires, now COVID-19. All this while, PIQ have been plugging away in research; not just in human health, but now also Agriculture & Marine. Australia really is a food platter to the world & a leading country in Biotech development of novel therapies & in our case, diagnostics for millions of people globally.

The pipeline diseases targeted by PIQ all totally make sense & are unmet clinical needs globally (human health).

The Janssen (J&J) collaboration is continuing, and now looking at patient outcomes on treatment with Invokana. This to me, is a really good sign.

If PromarkerD did not meet endpoints in the first phase, we would not be co-presenting with Janssen at 80th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association on 13th June 2020 AND we would not be moving to Ph2, analysing patients on treatment (results due Q2/Q3 2020). It has been a lengthy trial, longer than many of us expected, but that is just the way things are in Biotech investing, & I know it sounds odd, but we should probably be very pleased about this, because Janssen would drop the collaboration with PIQ like a hot potato if they weren’t seeing exceptional numbers in our clinical trials.

We are fortunate that COVID-19 has not affected PIQ’s good work & clinical trials (retrospective). For investors, COVID-19 really has been a double edged sword. For some companies like PIQ, it may be a blessing, in the development of tests, on top of their existing pipeline.

My personal belief in investing in PIQ is not only for monetary gain, it is also ethically, a great investment for the future of humankind. For COVID-19 patients globally, I hope that comes sooner rather than later.

I was just watching protests about home isolation in the USA, that’s just insane!! None of these people were social distancing & some were wearing grubby masks they’d obviously been reusing for some time (so more harm than good). I feel sorry for the sensible people in the USA who are doing the right thing & for the healthcare workers who will have to deal with the fallout.

Young, healthy people including children are dying from this virus & related immunological responses. Long term effects of infection have a big question mark over them also. Not just respiratory as seen in SARS. The UK has identified that Paediatric cases of Kawasaki disease are on the rise in children admitted to ICUs & the potential link to the effects of COVID-19 on the immune system of healthy children with no prior risk factors.

The death rate in the USA is astounding for a first world country, but that also may be reflective of their health system (public vs private). We really are fortunate that Medicare exists in Australia. If you present to a public hospital you will receive the same care regardless of status, we only care about your health & best practice guidelines for treatment.

The USA is a COVID-19 mess. Diabetes & CKD are co-morbid risk factors with severe COVID-19 symptoms & ICU admission. We know that the USA has a pandemic of Type-2 diabetes.

ACE-2 receptors in kidney cells are a target for COVID-19 virus & this explains in some part the massive risk for huge fluctuations in blood pressure (and stroke) and renal failure requiring dialysis in ICU, it’s not just the lungs that are the problem with severe symptoms of this virus.

There are trials in Europe at the moment for an anti-inflammatory medication (Colchicine) that has been used to treat gout for many years. It’s not great for people who have kidney disease though (although gout & CKD can be linked), dose adjustments needed, but it looks like they are having some success with this on early symptoms of COVID-19. There are many clinical trials happening for re-purposed drugs in diabetes to prevent severe symptoms of COVID-19, one another SGLT2 Inhibitor (AstraZenica):

@Eqz, @Aqua65, @Druminsync, & anyone else co-invested in DXB, something to think about with our pipeline there also. This is not cross-promotion of stocks, PIQ has a collaboration with DXB in Ph2b DKD/CKD trials that are current & due for completion in June/July 2020 & an option to Licence PromarkerD for DMX-200 (trial drug). Have a google when you get the chance. If I get time later on today, will post some research articles. Have a great weekend all.
