He never finishes.
It's all to do with a concept known as vanishing points and what you postulated is basically a new slant on
one of ancient philosopher Zeno's Paradoxes. A vanishing point (in this context) is a point which you can get
closer and closer to in increments, but never reach (because by definition you are only going "half-way to it"
in each unit of time).
Worth a read for those looking for an interesting diversion.
