The use of the tape measure introduces so many variables that would interfere with doctors being able to make a proper diagnosis that it beggars belief that the medical establishment will seek to hang on to it for much longer.
I'm not sure how much it costs to do the tape measurements but $60 four times per year for BIS with superior accuracy seems fairly reasonable.
It wouldn't have to catch too many more patients that would have gone on to develop severe lymphoedema to be cost effective.
