Cell count actually refers to mastitis. Good operators can usually pick up a cow with a bad quarter prior to putting cups on and then they bypass the milk going into the vat. Antibiotic treatment is best cure. Well operated farms usually run with a hospital herd so as these cows are milked separately and the milk is retained and fed to calves until they are clear.
