Could it just be that in the transition of the team, adding sales and partners and product development, that definition on the word "customer" has changed? Perhaps the iTextiles guys are holding the relationship with some "customers" as well so they dont technically have a direct relationship as well.
Perhaps initial tyrekicking evaluation orders doesnt qualify you as one now where it did before we started to production scale proof points and get repeat orders etc. Different people giving the guidance now?
