A bit more detail on the above drugs. The one reffered to is Opdivo, and a similar one is Keytruda. Apparently they use the body's immune system to target the tumors. initially targetting melanoma as these tumors do most damage to dna and as a result are easier to target with this therapy. Being trialed also on other cancers such as lung and breast i believe.
Keytruda is made by pharmaceutical giant Merck, known as MSD outside North America. Its rival, Bristol-Myers Squibb, which makes Yervoy, is trialling a similar drug to Keytruda, called Opdivo, which has been approved in the US and Japan.
