I'm no engineer so i can only state the absolute obvious. Perhaps those with technical knowledge can add some substance. It has to greatly diminish or eliminate entirely the possibility of foreign bodies sneaking through a water intake filter and interrupting either the CETO unit or the Peleton turbines on shore. I'd say that would particularly important over time. It also eliminates the corrosive effect of the salt water from the internal workings of the CETO units, pipes and Petleton turbines which has to have a substantial positive effect on the ongoing maintenance costs.
I'm not concerned about the direct desalination angle at this stage. CNM will be printing money from energy production by the time the technicalities of that are commercialised - an element for post 2015 growth in my opinion.
I'm also not concerned about any short term profit taking that creeps in - let them sell. Perhaps we weren't wrong with our predictions of a series of announcements regarding environmental assessments etc, just early, as usual. If CNM know they have until September, maybe we'll see those annoucnements in August.
Either way, I'm reinvigorated with some much needed patience that i was quickly losing. C'mon Rudd.
