Unfortunately our colleagues at Roche are very sensitive to us talking about the financials associated with the deal, but it’s worth pointing out that it was our first collaboration signed. It was December 2009, so we are 18 months into that deal. We successfully completed the first stage of that collaboration and they came back to us earlier this year and said they wanted to expand.

So they came to us in the original collaboration to focus on peptides that are carrier peptides that can carry payloads inside of cells. What we call cell-penetrating peptides and the expansion of the deal is looking at peptides that not just enter cells but go straight through cells. So they are particularly interested in the cell layer that is the blood/brain barrier. So it’s the ability to inject a peptide for it to travel across the blood/brain barrier and target neurological cells and obviously diseases of the central nervous system, like Alzheimers and Parkinsons.

So it is an expansion. They’ve paid us more money.
I can’t disclose the figures today.
They will obviously come out in our quarterlies.
And we have extended the option, to the extent that later this year, if they want to exercise that option, there will obviously be a full licensing agreement.

‘They’ve paid us more money’ – IMO these are future payments he talking about that are written into the contract. Not money already received. NW should have had more clarity.
