Nice announcement! YTD sales revenues up 28% on the PCP, which included the company’s first sales into Italy. I like this as it shows that investment into Europe is stating to pay off already.
The commentary around the addition of a domestic non-NSW-based customer is probably the most intriguing piece of information.
We can assume that the new customer is a private pathology provider rather than a public one, primarily because of the apparent inclusion of a non-disclosure clause in the agreement. (In the past, public pathology providers have freely allowed their names to be associated with Genetic Signatures’ products)
In addition, public providers are not truly competitive organisations, such that offering a test (or better test) than other public providers offer is not a point of competitive advantage.
Private path labs, on the other hand, will be seeking a competitive advantage over their rivals. So they will do whatever they can to keep information out of competitors hands and retain control over that information via non-disclosure clauses as long as they can or it benefits them. Since smaller players don’t have the same leverage with suppliers as the bigger ones, they, generally, can’t demand the inclusion of a non-disclosure clause in a supply agreement.
Therefore the new non-NSW customer must be one of the major players such as Healthscope, Primary Health Care and Sonic Healthcare.
Whichever one it is it will be an awesome announcement once it is made public.
