Was interested more in madamswer's analysis than your post, which I didn't really read. Obviously, now I do read it, I realise you must feel an absolute goose so sorry to bring it up. But I think you're right - you weren't wrong about everything. The US did lead the sp, but thinking more along madamswer's analysis than yours. So maybe the lesson is not to dismiss contrarians, especially when they have kickass financial expertise.
