Mr SV. You again raise a most interesting point regrading news stories.

Alas, I fear you respect of the news comes from a bygone era. Unfortunately so much of what we read in 'print', or hear on TV, is 200% hyped up rubbish, sensationalized out of all proportion. Make them laugh, or make them cry, does not matter as long as there is emotional response. I would think something like FOX news must be the master.

'The official trusted large corperations have more responsibility and can be accountable for false info on a public company than some kid spouting his thoughts on a blog.'

We would all like to think this would be true. Because of the fear of legal, most news operations are very careful about publishing anything that may be critical of a company. Even the AFR is a wimp these days.

As for the specialist press - well when was the last time a motoring magazine said a car was bad? Too much advertising revenue to consider in giving 100% honest views. Apart from advertising we have the jounos, at times, being flown to some exotic location, wined and dined, and then a test drive. Who would write a bad report? Because the readers of specialist magazines tend to be fan boy types, they prefer good news as self validation of their interest.

Blogs - there are some that are just well respected, and many that are worse than rubbish. The problem with the well respected ones is that they again are subject to marketing efforts, advertising revenue etc. And in recent times many have been purchased by industry interests.

So, I would caution any news story from any source, except peer reviewed journals. There can be issues there as well but it is the closest form of honest media one can get. This is where BRN needs to be published to get exposure to serious technical experts, who will have reviewed the matter prior to publication.
